·            University of the Third Age (u3a): Ivybridge u3a monthly general meetings are held at The Watermark in Ivybridge from 2-3.30pm (usually) on the third Monday of each month and are free to members. They are open to members and those no longer in full-time employment who wish to find out what’s on offer. Upcoming Meetings:

-     Monday 17 November: Paul Rendell. The Making of Warhorse and other films on Dartmoor.  This fascinating talk will be looking at filming on Dartmoor, including the making of Warhorse in 2010, and exploring the tricks used to make a great movie.  The talk will also include TV programmes such as Down to Earth, Gold Digger and the 1985 film Revolution.  Revolution was made on Dartmoor and Bigbury bay and featured our speaker as an extra in the film.

Ivybridge u3a is one branch of a nationwide organisation. If you would like to meet like-minded people who enjoy the same activities as you, you may like to join us. This could give you the opportunity to make new friends or join one of the forty, diverse groups: from walking on Dartmoor, to learning a foreign language, folk music and learning to play ukelele. You can find details of all the groups online under Ivybridge u3a. The monthly meetings offer a programme of talks on various subjects (see above). If you would like to join, please come to one of our monthly meetings, or contact our Membership Secretary, Christine Smith on 01752 837713 or 07974 812657, or download and submit the on line application form HERE. The annual cost is £18 per person giving access to all we have to offer. FFI contact the chairman Val Carmichael on 01752 658164 or email: This email address is being protected from spambots.
