Art House South Brent is ‘an arts and crafts space for making, mending and meeting in South Brent’ with two fantastic spacious, airy, light-filled studios at the south end of the Old School Community Centre for classes, workshops, exhibitions and events. Art House offers classes and sessions for people of all ages, abilities and experience, to get inspired and learn new skills, make a mess, have fun with new friends (and clear up afterwards!). -     Art Drop-In Sessions - Generally on the first Monday of each month (but can vary due to bank holidays). The idea is to get together to draw or do your own arty thing in convivial surroundings (so we can also chat, drink and eat nibbles). Bring along; a drink and a snack (if you wish); your own drawing materials; a thing or two, to put on the table to draw if you fancy trying a still life, or you could do your own thing, like work on an ongoing project. -     Printmaking classes with Louise Scammell – Day classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 10-3pm and Tuesday evenings from 6-9pm. Printmaking is an absorbing and fascinating visual art. Louise taught printmaking at Dartington for 14 years and is a member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and Society of Wildlife Artists. Her practice involves teaching linocut, drypoint, woodcut, collagraphs, monotype and etching using copper sulphate. The Art House studio has a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere and a ‘state of the art’ Hale press, two Rolloco presses and a substantial book press. -     Create a Shibori Hanging with Annabel Wilson on Saturday 8 November from 10am to 4.30pm Join this workshop where you will be introduced to stitched shibori and discover how to make your own exciting and individual shibori fabric patterns all inspired by designs in nature. Then put them together to create a small hanging and then stitching into the shibori designs. Maximum of 8 students per workshop. Enjoy tea, coffee and homemade cake throughout the day, bring your own packed lunch. All materials are provided but if you have a favourite sewing kit, please bring it along. ·            Art House Greetings Cards Competition

This is an Open Call for artwork submissions for the Art House Greetings Cards Competition. Your work can be any subject, any medium, 2D or 3D, representational or abstract. The only specification is that a photograph of the art must work in a square format, as the winning entries will be printed onto square cards (12cm x 12cm). The FINAL DATE for submissions is SUNDAY 30TH NOVEMBER 2025. All the entries will be printed out for a one day exhibition on SATURDAY 13TH DECEMBER in the Yellow Studio at Art House, where visitors can come and vote for their favourite.

The ten most popular entries will be printed onto greetings cards which will be sold to raise money for Art House to support free and subsidised workshops. They will then be available to buy on our website and at our events. The ten winners will each receive a full set of the cards as their prize, and the most popular one will also receive an art voucher.

After the exhibition the entries will be displayed in the corridor gallery in the Old School Centre during January 2026.
