The Hillyfield is a 45-acre woodland farm and ancient woodland regeneration project in a secluded valley in Harbourneford within Dartmoor National Park and walking distance from South Brent. It is managed for environmental and community benefit. Hillyfield aims to engage young people and adults in rural skills and sustainable livelihoods through a programme of workshops and monthly volunteering opportunities.
After Hillyfield’s long running planning dispute with Dartmoor National Park Authority, an agreement was finally reached on 11 April to permit the development of the barns which are needed for wood drying and storing machinery, to support Hillyfield’s sustainable woodland management programme. Once they have recovered, they will be able to get on with building the barns, developing the programme and recruiting more volunteers. They also need to recover some of the remaining legal costs and fees - If you would like to support them in this please see www.crowdfunder.co.uk/thehillyfield.
