· Dartington Playgoers’ Autumn production will be Tartuffe, by Molière, translated by Roger McGough and directed by Patrick Cooper. Often considered Moliere’s greatest play, ‘Tartuffe’ is a satirical comedy about religious hypocrisy, family disfunction, and human gullibility. Orgon, the well-intentioned patriarchal head of a well-to-do family, is besotted with Tartuffe, a (very obviously) fake holy man, who sets about taking full advantage, trying to marry Orgon’s daughter, and seduce his wife.
