·            South Brent Amateur Dramatic Society (SBADS) presents ‘Lady Susan’ at 7.30pm, in South Brent Village Hall. Adapted for the stage by Rob Urbanati, and directed SBADS’ stalwart, Tim McGill, this regency tale of a wily woman in search of a fortune promises to be a real treat. Jane Austin’s novella, featuring one of her most artful and acerbic characters was written in the 1790s but not published for 80 years. The charming, recently widowed, Lady Susan Vernon spends a week in the country house of her brother-in-law and his wife. In that short time prospects are explored, schemed, and intrigued as she endeavours to secure a future for herself and her daughter.
