Jim Causley is a folksinger, award winning songwriter, musician, proud Devonian and all-round entertainer. He grew up in Whimple and sang with Wren Music before heading to Newcastle University to study on their new degree course in Folk & Traditional Music. He rose to prominence singing with The Devil’s Interval and Mawkin:Causley as well as touring with Waterson:Carthy and David Rotheray. In recent years his work has focused on his musical settings of poems by his relative Charles Causley, penning his own songs and reviving lost gems from his home county.
Bill Murray is a Dartmoor singer, champion of the spoken word, and elected chair of the Dartmoor Society. He is a consummate performer and has kept alive the tradition of unaccompanied singing. For over 50 years he has sought out the voices of people who have knowledge of old songs and traditions and is a piece of history in its own right. His contribution to the story of Dartmoor song immeasurable.
Ben Campbell is Tyneside born and bred, but a resident in Devon for over 40 years, and has been performing in Folk Clubs since the 1960s. A fine singer and guitarist, he is a resident at the Folk-on-the-Moor folk club in Wotter.
Graham and Val Lobb have performed individually, as a duo and in various groups, having met though singing in the mid-sixties during the folk club revival in Devon and Cornwall, and their interest in traditional and regional music has never waned.
