Spring Ceilidh - Dance your cares away with Spinach for Norman; plus special guest, Jim Causley in South Brent Village Hall, at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm) organised by South Brent Folk. ‘Spinach for Norman’ - Ben van Weede (fiddle); Joel Segal (fiddle); Howard Harrison (guitar/flute); Martin Henning (bass) and caller Pam Hayes, is a local ceilidh band, playing British traditional dance music with lots of familiar jigs, reels and hornpipes (“but we sometimes crowbar a Romanian Nut-Crushing dance and some American, Breton and Transylvanian flavours into the mix...”). Jim Causley is a folk-singer, award winning songwriter, musician, proud Devonian and allround entertainer. He grew up in Whimple and sang with Wren Music before heading to Newcastle University to study on their new degree course in Folk & Traditional Music. He rose to prominence singing with The Devil’s Interval and Mawkin:Causley as well as touring with Waterson:Carthy and David Rotheray. In recent years his work has focused on his musical settings of poems by his relative Charles Causley, penning his own songs and reviving lost gems from his home county. All welcome! Reel Ale bar and nibbles available. Tickets at £8.00 available from artworks or via Eileen McKee on 01364 73699 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
