Art House South Brent Open Day and Launch at the Old School Community Centre from 10am-4pm - things to see, to buy and to make.

Art House is an arts, making and mending space in South Brent. We are restoring half of the Old School Centre into 2 beautiful studios suitable for art, craft, making and mending.

We will be offering the following regular classes: printmaking, ceramics, life drawing, bookbinding, textiles, plus plenty more one-off and weekend events and courses suitable for a range of ages and abilities, and for all the community to get involved with. We will also have a gazebo outside suitable for some activities and have a resident potter in our clay barn. - Taster sessions and more:

As well as short taster workshops from Isabel Coulton (drawing), Imogen Taylor Noble (ceramics), Louise Scammell (printmaking) – “let your imagination soar – come and make an impression – your own handprinted bird”, and Abby Schaeffer (textiles). We will have demonstrations from Gaynor Williams (bookbinding), wreath making from Rachel Rafiqi and more besides. -

Bookings are needed for some things but not all: We've had to introduce booking for the taster workshops so that we can control the numbers in the building at one time due to Covid, but we hope this won't put you off!

You don’t have to do or buy anything; it’s free to just visit and have a look and take in the atmosphere - watch demos, and you never know; we might have some free workshop slots; we'll have mince pies, drink and some live music as well as some gifts and kits for sale. Some of our tutors have card readers for payments, but bring some cash too if you can.

We're planning a low-key socially distanced event which we hope will give a flavour of the possibilities and atmosphere of Art House. We will be well prepared with covered outdoor space, and 2 spacious well ventilated rooms which allow one way circulation and social distancing.
