The sixth Nourish Festival in Bovey Tracey when the town will be overflowing with food, music and craft events from 10am until 5pm.
The festival kicks off musically on Friday 30 August at 7.30pm, with the Brodsky Quartet in the Parish Church, back for their fifth visit to Bovey Tracey and playing: Purcell’s Chaconne; Mozart’s Adagio & Fugue; Puccini’s Crisantemi; Shostakovich No 7; Beethoven’s Op 131. Tickets £22 (U18 £5)
On the Saturday, the main street will be filled with great West Country food producers along with a mouth-watering selection of street food vendors - there's no need to go hungry! A mini- craft festival featuring some of the region's best makers will take place in the Methodist Hall just around the corner on Le Mollay-Littry Way. And the third Nourish Gin Festival will take place in and around the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery at the top of town. While you're up there, you'll surely want to check out how Devon's first whisky is progressing, and also see how the Bovey Paradiso team are getting on with their plan to create a cinema just across the road. At lunchtime on the main festival day, - check out the amazing Meridianum Ensemble at 1pm in the Baptist Church, with an exciting trans-cultural fusion of folk music from across Europe, played on an amazing variety of instruments (Soufian Saihi on Arabic oud; Ricardo de Noronha on Middle-Eastern percussion; Nuno Silva on Persian santur; Totnes’ Griselda Sanderson on Swedish nyckelharpa and Louis Bingham on cittern; Steve Tyler on hurdy-gurdy). The festival's closing concert is at 7.30pm on the Saturday evening in the Parish Church and is from Martin Roscoe, one of Britain’s best-loved and most admired pianists.
