South Brent Folk presents the 8th annual South Brent Folk Day with singing; music; dancing (with Harberton Navy (Cotswold); Heather & Gorse (Northwest Clog); Winkleigh Morris (Cotswold and Border)); workshops (Tambourine and Ukulele); and concerts in the Old School Community Centre and Village Hall. This year’s winner of the South Brent poetry competition with the theme of 'Dartmoor Seasons’, will also be announced at the folk day.
Afternoon Concert at 2pm in the Old School Community Centre with South Brent Handbell Ringers; IvyUkes; Tambourines (from workshop); Steve Gill; Silvington (Tricia Moore and John O’Connor).
The headline Evening Concert is at 7.30pm in the Village Hall (with Reel Ale bar) and features:
- Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman: Dartmoor-based husband and wife duo who have long established themselves as one of the UK folk scene’s most rewardingly enduring partnerships. An enviable class act of imaginative song-writing and musicianship, they have twice won the coveted Best Duo title at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards (2016 & 2013).
- Granny’s Attic: Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne (Melodeon, Concertina, Vocals), George Sansome (Guitar, Vocals) and Lewis Wood (Fiddle, Mandolin, Vocals) – are a folk trio who play the tradition with verve, energy and their own inimitable style. Three exceptional musicians and fine singers, who have been heralded for their lively performances playing English traditional and original music and their delivery and selection of traditional songs.
Tickets at £12 available from artworks – if bought in advance includes afternoon concert.
