The Extinction Rebellion: Non Violent Direct Action training session from 2:30-6:00pm (provisional times) in the Old School Community Centre. Planning for action to raise the issues of the Climate Change emergency. The ‘Extinction Rebellion’ (‘XR’) is an international movement that aims to promote radical change, through nonviolent resistance and ‘respectful disruption’ and to signal to those in power the existence of an emergency situation that requires emergency action to minimise species extinction and avert climate breakdown. Its central demands are that the Government must tell the truth about the climate and wider ecological emergency, and reverse inconsistent policies by enacting legally binding measures to reduce consumption levels, and carbon emissions to net zero by 2025.
