Advance Planning for End of Life Workshop (Living Wills) from 1.30 - 5.30pm in the Old School Community Centre. Death is universal and inevitable, we just don’t know when or how it will happen and usually this is
out of our control. However, we can influence where and how we are cared for and in case we are unable to express this at the time, having our preferences written down and shared with health professionals and
loved ones means there is more likelihood that they will be respected. This informative and interactive workshop will be an opportunity to get more information about what you can do to plan for your own End of
Life and provides a practical opportunity to write your own plan. We will cover what treatments you would and wouldn’t want; how you would like to be cared for; who will speak for you if you can’t speak for
yourself; what you would want to happen after your death. This will include
· Advance Decision to Refuse Treatment
· Advance Statements of Wishes and Preferences – where and how you would like to be cared for and by whom
· Do Not Resuscitate Orders
· Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) for Health and Welfare
· Options available to people to have the funeral they would like
The workshop is facilitated by Aly Dickinson with Awi Frances - both are trained Living Well Dying Well End of Life Doulas working to support the dying and their loved ones.
