·                Dartington Playgoers present Journey’s End’, the play by RC Sherriff, directed by Leon Winston at 7.30pm each evening in Studio 31, Aller Park, Dartington Hall estate. Set over four days in March 1918 towards the end of the First World War, the play tells the story of a group of British infantry officers and men in a dug out in the trenches on the front line in France. Raleigh, a new 18 year old officer fresh out of public school joins the besieged company commanded by his friend and cricketing hero Stanhope, to find him significantly changed.

Dartington Playgoers are proud to be presenting this piece on the Dartington Estate in the centenary year of the end of World War 1 as Dartington has a significant connection to this famous anti-war piece, which was funded largely thanks to the backing of Leonard and Dorothy Elmhirst, the founders of Dartington. The profits from the success of the original play in 1928 went on to fund the creation of the Barn Theatre at Dartington Hall.
