·                Brent Birders present a talk on 'Farming in the Uplands' in the main hall at the Old School Centre starting at 7.30pm. The speaker is Ann Willcocks who farms at Harford and is passionate about Commons, Commoning and the Social Integrity of Dartmoor. The talk will be shorter than usual to allow for an open discussion at Ann’s request, during which among other items such as the following could be discussed: stocking levels, rewilding, swaling, subsidies, government policies etc and their effects both positive and negative on our wildlife. After the discussion refreshments will be available as usual.

 

Brent Birders will be continuing their survey of birds in our parish in 2018 and hope that you will help in January and May. There is a survey form on the website which you can download from this link. Please submit your records as early as possible in Feb and June to This email address is being protected from spambots. Also please dig out your notebooks etc for any interesting records of birds you saw in the parish in 2017 with the exception of the records already submitted for Jan and May. They will be used to produce a further short report for 2017.

 

The report 'The Birds of South Brent Parish' will be published in 2018 will be a full-colour, A4 publication with full results from the 2014?16 parish survey as well as photographs, maps, bar charts, descriptions of bird habitats and historical information on the birds to be found across the South Brent area.
