The Moor 2 Sea Sportive, now in its 6th year, comprises three routes, one of which (the 'Extreme' route) passes through South Brent.
All routes start and finish at Exeter Race Course and include the coast around Dawlish & Teignmouth and parts of Dartmoor National Park.
The 'Extreme' route (112 miles/180 km) is a figure-of-8 ride, with gradients up to 26%, which promise to test the legs of the most experienced of endurance athletes.
Having left Exeter between 7 and 8am, riders on this route will pass through South Brent during the middle of the day, just over 70 miles into their ride, approaching Brent from Ivybridge and Bittaford past Glazebrook, via Brent Mill on to the Exeter Road and out via Marley Head and back on to the moor.
The 'Challenge' route (65 miles/105 km) is the most popular and the 'Inspire' route (37 miles/60 km) is designed for those new to endurance cycling. It is not a race; entrants receive a disposable electronic timing chip on registration and a Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals are awarded to all who finish their route within designated time limits. Electric bikes are also allowed. For more information and routes etc. see: www.moor2sea.co.uk/.
