·                Coffee Morning and Table Top Sale from 10.00am - 12.30pm in the Old School Community Centre with lovely homemade cakes to raise funds for local girl Meriel Hubbard in her two month volunteer role as a project manager in Costa Rica under the auspices of Raleigh International, which co-ordinates Volunteer Managers aged over 25 from around the world to support and lead international teams of young people on projects in Costa Rica, Malaysian Borneo, Nepal, Nicaragua, and Tanzania. The Costa Rican programme, which has been running since 2002, focuses on access to basic services for indigenous communities and protecting natural resources.  Due to inequality, indigenous groups across Costa Rica experience a higher infant, child and general mortality rate as well as higher rates of malnutrition and disease than the rest of the population, often from largely preventable diseases. Volunteers work with communities and the government to increase the provision and use of basic services such as education and healthcare.
