·                The 3rd Hillyfield Woodland Olympics a day of fun for lovers of wood of all ages! Celebrating Woodland Culture on Dartmoor and enjoy the best of Devon at The Hillyfield 11am-6pm. Organised this year organised jointly with Sustainable South Brent's Wood Group so expect a field of crafts, walks, talks and demonstrations from some of the South West's top wood folk. Expect axe throwing, horse-logging, archery and more. Plus the amazing Woodland Olympics Games with 'The Log Chopping Relay Race' (get your teams ready to challenge the winners at Olympics 2014) 'The Pole Stripping Dance Off' (it's not what it sounds) and quite possibly 'The Tong and Thong Race'. This will be a fundraiser for the Hillyfield Appeal (see above). Enjoy a forest tour with information about the management of these woods. Feast at a pop-up cafe serving delicious venison and squirrel stew (one way to save our trees) and other great food and ale.

Hillyfield aims to engage young people and adults in rural skills and sustainable livelihoods through a programme of workshops and monthly volunteering opportunities:

·      10 September:         Clearing branches from larch felling

·      8 October:          Helping with larch

·      12 November: 'The big chip'

·      10 December:   Willow work
