There will be a solo, partially retrospective exhibition of the work of South Brent painter and print maker Michael Honnor at the Devon Guild of Craftsmen, in Bovey Tracey showing the breadth of his work across some 50 years of practice. Growing up on the edge of Dartmoor has instilled in Michael an instinctive connection with the wilderness and wildness of Britain. It almost all begins out of doors; the rather solitary painter in rather solitary rough places, usually where the land meets the water, giving Michael a special quality of weather and light which he interprets into his work. Michael is exhibited widely, has work in many public collections and he has been exhibiting at the Thackeray Gallery, London for over 25 years. Michael is also widely known for his printmaking which he refers to as the partner to the painting. He was given his first litho stone forty five years ago and he has been addicted to lithographic alchemy ever since. This exhibition is an opportunity to see Michael’s painting and printmaking alongside one another, to explore the synergy of the techniques and to see how one informs the other. Free, open daily. 10am-5.30pm.
