The Whispering Road is a riotous roller-coaster of a story, bubbling with vivid imagery and thrilling music, soaring from tenderness to wild hilarity, all in a perfectly formed folk tale. Nick Hennessey’s spellbinding storytelling combines with Vicki Swan and Jonny Dyer’s renowned musicianship and their collective wealth of experience of Nordic traditional folk culture Swedish nyckelharpa (keyed fiddle), kohorn (cow horn), accordion, guitar and three-part close harmony singing. Drawing on the rich Swedish folk tradition and instruments, through spoken word, song and music 'The Whispering Road' tells the story of hope in the darkness, of two strangers bound by a ring and of the one who could not love. An electrifying performance leading the audience on a fantastical journey to a land where every bird and beast has power and every encounter a deeper purpose. The evening is in two halves, first half is general song and music. Second half is the show, which runs at roughly an hour. The show content is suitable for children, 8+.
